I love using whole slabs of timber to make tables. The tree and its history is right there in front of you, right underneath your mug of coffee.
Oak is a wonderful wood for tables. It is incredibly hard wearing, looks better with age and fits well into both modern and more traditional homes. The bark edges are often left on to give further interest and visual appeal. These tables can become real centre pieces in the room, and are a lovely balance of art and functionality.
Yew and London Plane are other favoured woods for tables due to their lovely colour and grain pattern.
